To conclude her artist in residency period in Athens, Katherina Heil and Rik Möhlmann invite you to join the exhibition “Cosmographia” on Saturday, 30th of March at A - DASH.
Cosmic phenomena have always been an inspiration to explore, research, imagine and create mythologies and stories in order to give meaning and context to our lives. As it unfolds, the interpretations and visualisations of the cosmos constitute spaces, give notion of presence, communicate time. Moreover, it may trigger sensations of awareness or a shift in perspective, a mind bending sense of placing oneself in the context of the idea of an expanding universe.
The title of the exhibition originates with Katherina Heil’s habit in finding cosmic coherencies in images and objects that she collects and creates in relation to the scientific exploration of space and a holistic understanding of the universe. The artist structures them into different non-linear narratives as in poetry in contrast to a logical scientific story. Using the methods and aesthetics of the visualisation of cosmic phenomena and (educational) knowledge production, different fragments are assembled in an intuitive manner, with the aim of establishing connections. In her work, the human body is seen as the perceptual center between micro- and macrocosm. While in Athens Katherina collaborated with the artist Rik Möhlmann (NL) to work cross media and explore both their practices in relation to the project “Sensory Thresholds”.

Cosmographia is initiated by Katherina Heil at the occasion of her artist in residency period at A-Dash in Athens in collaboration with Rik Möhlmann and PACTO artist collective.

Για την ολοκλήρωση της περίοδο της παραμονής της στην Αθήνα, η Katherina Heil και ο Rik Möhlmann σας προσκαλούν στην έκθεση "Κοσμογραφία", το Σάββατο 30 Μαρτίου στο A - DASH. Η έκθεση θα συνοδεύεται από ένα παράπλευρο πρόγραμμα, περιλλαμβανομένου φαγητού και ποτού.
Τα κοσμικά φαινόμενα ήταν πάντα μια έμπνευση για την διερεύνηση, τη φαντασία και να την δημιουργία μυθολογιών και ιστοριών για να δώσουν νόημα στη ζωή μας. Καθώς εκτυλίσσονται, οι ερμηνείες και οι απεικονίσεις του σύμπαντος συνιστούν χώρους που δίνουν την έννοια της παρουσίας, και της επικοινωνίας του χρόνου. Επιπλέον, μπορούν να προκαλέσουν τις αισθήσεις να ευαισθητοποιήσουν ή να μετατοπίσουν την προοπτική, την αίσθηση της τοποθέτησης του εαυτού στο πλαίσιο της ιδέας ενός διαστελλόμενου σύμπαντος.
Ο τίτλος της έκθεσης προέρχεται από τη συνήθεια της Katherina Heil για την εύρεση κοσμικών συνεργασιών σε εικόνες και αντικείμενα που συλλέγει και δημιουργεί σε σχέση με την επιστημονική εξερεύνηση του διαστήματος και μια ολιστική κατανόηση του σύμπαντος. Η καλλιτέχνιδα δουλεύει με αυτά σε διαφορετικές μη-γραμμικές αφηγήσεις, όπως στην ποίηση, σε αντίθεση με μια λογική επιστημονική ιστορία. Γενικά ενδιαφέρεται για τους δύο πόλους της επιστήμης και της φαντασίας/αστρονομίας και πώς αυτές υλοποιούνται στο έργο της.
Κατά την διάρκεια παραμονή της στην Αθήνα η Katherina συνεργάστηκε με τον καλλιτέχνη Rik Möhlmann (NL) που εργάζεται με πολυμέσα και διερευνά κοινές πρακτικές σε σχέση με το έργο Sensory Thresholds. Η “Κοσμογραφία” πραγματοποιείται από την Katherina Heil με την ευκαιρία της παραμονής της καλλιτέχνιδας στο A-Dash στην Αθήνα σε συνεργασία με τους καλλιτέχνες Rik Möhlmann και την κολεκτίβα PACTO.
